Graná with Gazal: Magic in Granada
Graná with Gazal: Magic in Granada
When we visit a city, in addition to “traditional” tours (in this case, Alhambra, Albayzín...), we may want to do something different. And in the search for something different, is where Gazal Tours comes into play: today we would like to talk to you about our exclusive Magic tour in Granada.
In this tour, designed and offered solely and exclusively by us, we focus to immerse you in a fascinating facet of the Granada city: magic. Yes, you heard right! And be careful, with magic we do not mean legends, mysteries or ghost stories.
During the time of al-Andalus, and in general throughout ancient times, magic was part of people's daily lives. For example, it was very common for Muslim rulers to have astrologers at their service to know if they would be successful in their military campaigns; Amulets and talismans were made to chase away an annoying neighbor, to avoid mosquito bites... and, of course, love spells couldn't be missed! Magic was also used by doctors of that time to cure deseases, such as jaundice.
Discover how all this Islamic heritage passed to the Moriscos after the conquest of the Catholic Monarchs; how, through some small tricks, they managed to deceive the Inquisition so that they would not be accused of heresy. In this part, we will talk about the most feminine aspect of magic, through real documented cases.
And not only that... you will not be left without knowing what the jinn, the ifrit, or the ghoul are, beings from Islamic mythology with supernatural powers that intervene in our daily lives.
This tour is suitable for everyone, and is based on medieval magical treatises that, if you are curious, we will reveal throughout the visit. It is carried out in a maximum group of fifteen people, always with audio equipment so that you do not miss any detail and you can, therefore, enjoy the entire experience.
*Important: we emphasize that this tour does not visit haunted houses, nor does it talk about ghost stories, mysteries, legends, torture instruments of the Inquisition and any type of content that may be considered sensitive, macabre or unpleasant.
